BLY CEMETERY
Located about 3½ miles west of Bly, Oregon, this cemetery was first used in 1901 and was abandoned about 1945. There are 20 unmarked or unidentified graves in this cemetery. Records from O'Hairs Funeral Home and Wards Klamath Funeral Home in Klamath Falls, Oregon were used to locate additional information, some of which conflicts with headstones.Inscriptions were copied and research was done by Mrs. Doyle D. Horton of Bly. There is no date on her record, although a copy was filed with the Klamath County Library November 24, 1976.We are the owners of an abandoned cemetery approx. 3 miles west of Bly, Oregon. The readable markers date from 1901 to 1943 (date of death). There are numerous lava rock slabs that we are sure were used for markers but if they ever bore inscriptions, time and weather have erased all but one. We've also heard there once were wooden markers but see no evidence of any now. Oscar Green Laberee was buried in the cemetary but did not have a headstone. The grave may be located on the left as you enter the gate(although the fence is gone we were able to estimate some of the boundary from memory and believe we know where the gate was located).We have heard rumors over the years that some of the people were moved and reburied elsewhere. We are fairly certain there are still people buried here. Some of the headstones are beautiful and there are difinite mounds that indicate graves. We will probably research this with20Wrds Funeral Home (name on the markers) but would appreciate any information anyone has on the cemetary and its occupants.Mark & Kandy Hill Bly, Oregon
