Headstone is shaped like a pulpit with an open bible on it. At the base it says NICKERSON. Running around the bottom of the pulpit are pansies and ivy. At the top on two sides there is just ivy running horizontally. On the face (as if standing at the pulpit) it shows the gates of heaven opening then lists Hugh Nickerson died Aug 22, 1896 aged 77 ys 10 Ms 19 Ds Pioneer of 1851 at Rest. (b. 3 October 1818 Zanesville, Muskingum, Ohio)

On the right-hand side of the pulpit Hugh's 1st wife is listed. Serepta wife of Hugh Nickerson died June 10, 1862 aged 39 ys 2 ms 23 ds. Pioneer of 1851 at rest. (b. 16 March 1823 in Monongalia County, West Virginia)

On the left-hand side of the pulpit Hugh's 2nd wife is listed. Susan wife of Hugh Nickerson died Sep 9 1882 aged 40 yrs 3 ms ..ds. at rest (b. 15 May 1842 Ohio)

On the backside of the pulpit it lists two children.

Olive died Dec. 20, 1876 aged 11 yrs. 4 ms.

Hattie died Oct. 22, 1875 aged 2 yrs. 7 ms. 10 ds.

Children of Hugh and Susan Nickerson. At Rest.
